My adventurous spirit, athleticism, and love of the outdoors are deeply rooted in the women of my family. My grandmother Tonie traveled to Unalakleet, Alaska, right after high school, later sailing around the world twice and even living in a cave in Australia.
My mother, Sonya, lived off the grid in the Yukon, where she met my father. Together they moved to Homer and built a commercial fishing business, and one summer with us kids, built a cabin across Cook Inlet.
Skiing is woven through our lives. My grandmother skied across Norwegian glaciers and taught others to ski, as did I. My mother found her joy in the snowy backcountry. I raced as a junior national skier and just recently skied Resurrection Pass over five exhilarating days.
As a fisherman, athlete, coach, and traveler, I carry forward the spirit of the women before me — living life with fierce purpose and a heart open to wild adventure.
